Plan early. This gives you plenty of time to shop around for the best deals. Give yourself plenty of time to shop around for a caterer, baker, photographer, musicians and other professionals. Remember, you can plan a great wedding in nine months, but your dream wedding could be much more affordable with 18 months to plan.
Shop around for a venue and a date. If you don’t already have your heart set on a date or a location for the ceremony, do some shopping. If you are not planning a ceremony in a church, many locations have off-peak rates available during slower times and there are plenty of hotels, resorts, parks and other locales to choose from. This also holds true for the reception if you wish to hold it in a separate location.
Get married in the morning, on a Friday or Sunday and/or in the winter months (excluding Christmas). You will save a considerable amount of money. These are off-peak times for the wedding services industry, and your vendors might be willing to negotiate prices.
