In
an effort to help Virginians save energy, money and protect the
environment, Virginia will be promoting the second annual ENERGY STAR
Sales Tax Holiday from Friday, October 10, 2008 through Monday, October 13, 2008. Consumers can visit their local retailer and save both state and local sales tax on ENERGY STAR qualified products that cost $2500 or less.
The
Division of Energy of the Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy is
encouraging consumers to choose ENERGY STAR qualified and WaterSense
products during the sales tax holiday. The ENERGY STAR qualification
means that these products meet strict energy efficiency criteria set by the U.S. Department of Energy and U. S. Environmental Protection Agency.
