Embracing the Vision, the book, written by Cottage Living author and Augusta native, Shannon Friedmann Hatch is now available at exclusive locations throughout the CSRA.The epicenter of the states' junction and the meeting of the Piedmont and the coastal plain, the CSRA is located about two hours from beautiful Atlantic beaches, peaceful Appalachian Mountains, and the bustling capital of Atlanta. This convenient orbit attracts many businesses and residents to the region: They have the best of these worlds in their backwards without having to worry about high cost living or the daily grind of bumper-to-bumper traffic.
The Savannah River has kept the area alive and vital for more than 250 years. In the past it was a thoroughfare of pomp and circumstance -- a watery allee one day to usher in dignitaries (such as the Marquis de Lafayette), the next to export cotton. Today, residents enjoy its recreational benefits, whether while participating in water sports, scrolling hand-in-hand along Riverwalk, or taking in a concert at the waterfront, open-air Jessye Normal amphitheater. But to truly understand the region and be able to visualize its bright future, you must first know the course of its past."
Make sure you pick up your copy of this timeless keepsake that commemorates out regions past and visualizes our bright future.
Embracing the Vision is brought to you by Augusta Regional Airport, the Blanchard and Calhoun Family of Businesses, First Bank and WJBF News Channel 6.
Shannon Friedmann Hatch's roots run deep in the CSRA. The Augusta native lived in the city for nearly two decades, attending St. Mary's on the Hill Catholic School and graduating with honors from Westside High School. She went on to finish Summa Cum Laude from the University of Georgia's prestigious Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. Since then, she's written for national magazines and Web sites, including Southern Accents magazine and ELLEgirl.com, and worked for Oxmoor House, the book publishing division of Time Inc.'s Southern Progress Corporation. Still with Southern Progress, Shannon currently works for Cottage Living magazine and lives in Birmingham, Alabama, with her husband, Nathan, but she'll always call Augusta home.
