1. No purchase is necessary.
2. Participants must be eighteen (18) years of age or over at the time of the Backyard BBQ. Participant must be a legal resident of Virginia at the time of entry to win.
3. This contest is subject to all federal, state and local laws. Void where prohibited by law. By entering, participants agree to these official rules.
4. Seven (7) BBQ Prize Winners, One (1) each week, chosen by a WSLS station committee. Winner will be selected based on most worthy story submitted as to why they deserve to have a Backyard BBQ. Winner will be announced on air each Friday,… June 6, June 13, July 20, June 27, July 11, July 18 and July 25.
5. Only one (1) entry per household
6. Contest begins on May 26, 2008 and ends on July 25, 2008.
7. The geographic scope of this promotion is the Roanoke-Lynchburg DMA (TV
viewing area). The sponsor of this contest is Media General Operations, Inc.
d/b/a WSLS-TV.
8. Overall likelihood of being chosen as one of the weekly winners will be determined by committee decision and based upon the criteria set forth in these Official Rules. Overall likelihood of being chosen as the Grand Prize winner will be determined by random drawing of all entries received prior to the deadline, July 25, 2008. Drawings will be conducted by WSLS-TV. The odds of being a Weekly BBQ or Grand Prize Winner will depend on the number of entries received from the WSLS-TV audience.
PRIZES
9. Description of prizes: Seven (7) BBQ Prize Winners, One (1) each week.
Each winner will receive food from BBQ sponsors, as well as a $100 gift card
from our grocery sponsor to purchase food for 20 guests. WSLS-TV on-air personalities
will be on site at winner’s location to do cut-ins for the newscast
on WSLS. One (1) Grand Prize winner will receive a Weber Gas BBQ Grill valued
at $1,499.
10. All federal, state and other taxes relating to any prize, and any travel, hotel accommodations or other expenses relating to any prize, are the sole responsibility of the winners.
11. Prizes are non-transferable, substitutable, or exchangeable for cash except that WSLS-TV in its discretion may substitute a prize of equal or greater value. Any such changes will be announced. WSLS-TV has the right to postpone/cancel the event due to inclement weather. If any of the winners fail to meet any eligibility requirement herein, alternate winners will be chosen by random drawing to be held as soon as reasonably practicable after initial winners are determined to be ineligible. Alternate winners are subject to all eligibility requirements and restrictions of these Official Rules.
ELIGIBILITY

13. Winner must be eighteen (18) years of age or older and be a legal resident of Roanoke/Lynchburg DMA (TV viewing area) at the time of entry. Winner must make their home/yard available on the date of the Backyard BBQ, and have their own grill (gas or charcoal).
14. Employees of WSLS-TV, Media General Operations, Inc. and of the affiliates, subsidiaries, distributors, suppliers, franchisees, promoters, and agents of any of these, and the immediate families of the employees of any of these, are not eligible.

15. There are two ways to enter:
A. Send the following information: 1) Name, 2) Address, 3) Telephone Number,
and 4) Date of Birth, WSLS 10 Backyard Barbeque c/o WSLS-TV, P.O. Box 10,
Roanoke, VA 24022. Include in 250 words or less why you deserve a Backyard
BBQ.
B. Log onto www.wsls.com, access the Backyard BBQ page from “Weather”
tab. Fill out the Backyard BBQ entry form in full.
16. Entries must be received between the dates of May 25, 2008 through July 25, 2008. Winners will be announced on WSLS-TV 10 each Friday of the contest and thereafter at the discretion of WSLS-TV staff. To be eligible to win, entries must be received by July 25, 2008 no later than 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
17. Participants who fail to provide the required information will not be notified by WSLS-TV.
18. WSLS representatives will select One (1) Weekly BBQ prize winner each week of the contest by committee vote.
19. Weekly BBQ Prize Winners will be announced June 6, June 13, July 20,
June 27, July 11, July 18 and July 25 during the 6:00 p.m. WSLS-TV Channel
10 News.
Grand Prize winner will be announced on August 1 during the 6:00 p.m. WSLS-TV
Channel 10 News.
20. If WSLS-TV selects your name as a Weekly BBQ or Grand Prize Winner, WSLS-TV will contact you in accordance with the information you supplied to WSLS-TV. Winners may be verified over the telephone at the time and will be asked to schedule a site survey at Backyard BBQ location where each winner must provide WSLS-TV valid identification and execute an affidavit of eligibility. Identification includes a valid driver’s license or other valid picture ID showing name and address. Faxes will not be accepted. The Grand Prize Winner will be required come to WSLS-TV @ 401 3rd Street, Roanoke, VA 24011, during business hours to sign other legal documents, including tax forms and a release supplied by WSLS-TV, which, among other disclaimers, releases WSLS-TV, Media General Operations, Inc., and a range of subsidiaries, directors, agents, agencies, affiliates, franchisees, promoters, officers, directors, employees and related persons from any and all liability related to this Contest and the receipt and use of the prize. The information contained on the entry form or postcard becomes the property of WSLS-TV. If WSLS-TV is unable to speak directly to a Weekly BBQ or Grand Prize Winner within two (2) days from initial attempted notification, WSLS-TV in its sole discretion may disqualify that Weekly BBQ or Grand Prize Winner and select an alternate winner or remove the prize from the Contest.
21. WSLS-TV, Media General Operations, Inc., their affiliates, subsidiaries
or agencies will not be responsible for the inability to select winners because
of postal failure, equipment failure, or data storage failure.
MISCELLANEOUS
22. All federal, state and local laws apply. Sponsors shall be entitled to
interpret these rules as needed — including but not limited to rules
regarding entries, selection of winner, deadlines, restrictions on prizes,
and eligibility — and all of their decisions are final. By entering,
participants agree to these Official Rules. WSLS-TV reserves the right to
cancel, terminate or suspend this Contest or any part of this Contest should
any non-authorized intervention, network failure, information storage failure,
telecommunications failure, malfunction, or other causes beyond its control,
corrupt or impair the security, administration, fairness and/or operation
of this Contest as determined by WSLS-TV in its sole discretion. WSLS-TV and
Media General Operations, Inc. are not responsible for lost, interrupted,
or unavailable network, server, or other connections, or for any failed telephone
or computer hardware or software, or for any failed, delayed, misdirected,
corrupted, or garbled transmissions or errors of any kind, whether human,
mechanical, or electronic, or for entries that for any reason are not received
by WSLS-TV by the deadline stated above. WSLS-TV and Media General Operations,
Inc. are also not responsible for any injury or damage to any computer, modem
or other electrical device as a result of participation in this Contest or
downloading of any software or materials.

25. Any person attempting to defraud or tamper with this Contest in any way
will be ineligible for prizes and may be prosecuted to the full extent of
the law.
